ASC score big victory
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Army Service Corps (ASC) dished out a dominating first-half show to down Aeronautic Development Establishment (ADE) 5-3 in the Super Division football league at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Thursday.

The Armymen posted their third win to find some late form in the league as Sourav Das led the charge with three goals (8th, 34th, 61st). Thirunavakarasu (10th) and Thyagaraju (29th) were the other scorers.
The match almost followed a similar script as that of the drawn ADE-SAI tie a few days back as ADE once again thrived on some easy pickings and struck thrice in the second half through Donald (48th), Joar (72nd) and Vinod (87th).

The match certainly was not a close affair from early on as ASC demoralised their rivals with two goals within the first 10 minutes. Das turned in a deft flick off a Ramesh pass in the eighth minute while Thirunavakarassu pumped in another close-range shot two minutes later.

The ‘A’ Division champions stormed the rival half with impeccable midfield play, aided by splendid short passes. A solid show by the ASC defence meant that the ADE forwards had to be content with ambitious long-rangers that were always way off the target.

ASC went 3-0 up when a floater by Kiran KV was converted by Thyagaraju from the left. Moments later, Kiran was again in the thick of the action while whipping in a cross from the right for Das to slot in a neat header.
However, after resumption, the tables turned quite strangely as the ASC defence looked brittle and Donald pulled one back just three minutes into the session.

The ASC forwards suddenly looked out of sorts and their raids dried out substantially. However, a spark of brilliance by Das saw them gain a 5-2 lead. Thereafter, their attack remained silent.

ADE netted two more goals with Joar and Vinod cashing in on liberal offerings from the ASC defenders.
Other result: ’A’ Divsion: RWF: 5 (Satish 16th, 34th, Naveen Babu 18th, Lokesh 78th, Sugandar 82nd) bt Universal: 0.

Friday’s matches: ‘A’ Division: Tilak Memorial vs BUFC (1.45 pm); Super Division: CIL vs DYSS (3.45 pm).
