Tahsildar Poornima pointed out that in order to prevent people from celebrating grand weddings to show off in the society and then get into debts, mass marriages were very essential.

She was speaking after participating in the free mass marriage ceremony organised by the Siddabasaveshwara Swami Foundation Mahotsav in Nayanahalli village and said even people who can afford to perform lavish weddings should set an example by participating in mass marriages.

The Siddabasaveshwara temple belongs to the Muzrai department. But it is really laudable that the people have got together to perform the mass weddings. By developing the temple, an harmony will be created among the people, she said.

Deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav blessed the newly married couples.
He said that it was more important to live in harmony than just getting married.
