“If the government fails to initiate probe into the allegation against Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy on the forged receipts by November 30, Kodava Thakk Janangakarada Okkuta will stage dharna in front of Kannada Bhavana in Bangalore with the support of litterateurs on December 3,” said Okkuta President Addanda C Kariappa.
Addressing a press meet, he urged the government to either dissolve or suspend the Academy. He said duplicate receipts have been created for the programme ‘Kodava Nataka Namme’ held at Ponnampete Kodava Samaja on April 27, 2007 and ‘Samskrithika sangama’ held at Napoklu. He said for ‘Kodava Nataka Namme,’ the Academy has paid Rs 2,500 for Sathish Sounds Shamiana Centre.
However, the receipt has been tampered and has been written as Rs 13,275. Soft drinks had been purchsed for Rs 36 from Hotel Golden Gate. However, the receipt says Rs 1,436/ Ponnampete Coffeeland catering has been paid Rs 4,800 for meals. But the receipt which was tampered and was made as Rs 14,800. Labourers were paid Rs 500 for cleaning Kodava Samaja premises but the receipt says Rs 1,000. ‘Ummathat,’ ‘kolata,’ ‘Bolakat,’ ‘Baalopat,’ programmes were not staged at the ‘Kodava Nataka Namme.’ But receipt of Rs 6,000 have been distributed in the name of various teams.
Moreover, those who presented papers were paid Rs 3,00 but the receipt was tampered and made Rs 1,000. Mr Kariappa said journalist A R Kuttappa had presented a paper at Samskrithika Sangama. A case has been registered at Madikeri police station for forgering his signature for having paid Rs 1,000. Ding dong light and sounds was paid Rs 2,775 but the receipt says Rs 3,775. Duplicate receipt have been created in the name of Srinivas Udupa. A sum of Rs 50,000 misappropriation has taken place in both these programmes, he added.
