The Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme sanctioned for the State by the UPA government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a visionary project of much significance, said Zilla Panchayat member H M Satish.
Speaking after inaugurating the works under National Rural Emploment Guarantee Scheme at Siddaramatta in Kesave Gram Panchayat jurisdiction on Tuesday, he said the Central government has sanctioned Rs 20 lakh under the Rural Education Development Fund for the construction of the school building sanctioned at Siddaramatta by the MLA.
Executive Officer Kantharaj said, under the project which envisions provision of employment for 100 days in a year, those employees who suffer injuries will be provided treatment and they will also be paid half their salary during the treatment period. The salary will be deposited in the bank accounts of the employees every week, he informed.
Kesave Gram Panchayat president Hemavathi presided over the function. Vice-President Deepanna, High School Committee President Parameshwar, Gram Panchayat member Renuka, Yashoda, High School Headmaster Ratnakar were present.
