3 killed, 10 injured as bus, truck collide
DH News Service, Hubli:
Three persons were charred to death and 10 injured when a KSRTC collided head-on with a transport truck near Jigalur Cross in Kundagol taluk of Dharwad district in early hours of Friday.

The deceased are Williams, the bus driver, Kodag the truck driver - and the identity of the woman is not known.
According to the police, the bus from Hassan to Belgaum, collided with the truck which was on its way to Chennai, from Kolhapur.

The accident took the passengers unaware, as they were in deep slumber. The impact of the accident was so much that both the vehicles caught fire due to collision. People travelling in other vehicles stopped and rescued the passengers by breaking the window panes of the bus.

Later, a fire tender from Hubli rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. The bus is completely burnt in the accident.

Police had a tough time in extricating the bodies from the vehicles.

The injured are being treated at KIMS Hospital. Kundagol police have registered a case.

The injured told Deccan Herald that they woke up after hearing a loud sound and thick smoke had engulfed the bus. They broke the windows for safety. The death toll would have been more had they not jumped out of the bus.
