The 74th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana would be held at MGM college campus in Udupi from December 12 to 15.
Mr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara temple will inaugurate the prestigious literary event being organised by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Friday, Parishat President Chandrashekar Patil said while the campus where the literary event is being held would be named after litterateur Dr Shivaram Karanth, the main stage is being named after poet Gopalakrishna Adiga and the place where seminars will be held would be named after Muddanna, another litterateur from the district.
More than 15 seminars, 5 special lectures would be held during the four-day event, for which the State government has earmarked Rs 1 crore in the budget, said Mr Patil hoping that the Government would release the amount for the event despite President’s rule.
Asked about a parallel literary event being organised by various progressive organisations under the banner “Souharda Sahitya Sammelana”, Mr Patil clarified that it was not organised in protest against the Parishat or its programme.
