100 tonnes of oil retrieved
The salvage experts have retrieved approximately 100 tonnes of oil till Friday evening from the sunken ship M V Den Den, according to sources.
“However, a very small quantity of oil is still there in the sunken ship and it can’t be pumped out as it is in the bottom of the sunken ship,” the source added and said that the retrieved oil will be weighed, on Saturday, so that the customs department can levy tax for the same. The salvage experts will also plug all the holes made to retrieve the oil, on Saturday.
Women writers meet from today
Mandya, DHNS: The two-day sixth Akhila Karnataka women writers meet will begin at Farmers auditorium, Mandya from Saturday. Veteran litterateur Neeladevi will chair the meet. Neeladevi would be brought in a procession at 9 am and nearly five thousand are expected to attend the meet.
Advocates to meet
Bangalore, DHNS: The Advocates Association, Bangalore has called a special general body meeting on Saturday to condemn the terror attacks on certain courts in Uttar Pradesh. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 2 pm at the Vakeelara Bhavana in City Civil Courts complex, said Association president DL Jagadeesh.
The Association will also be holding a symbolic protest against the terror attack at 10.30 am in the city civil courts complex.
