The much-awaited passenger train services between Mangalore and Bangalore over the newly-constructed broad-gauge will commence from December 8.
According to an official release here, Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav will flag off train no 6518, Mangalore-Yeshwanthpur train, at Mangalore station on December 8.
However, the actual time of inaugural run will be announced shortly. Regular service of train no 6517 Yesvantpur-Mangalore Express will start on December 8 and that of train No 6518 Mangalore-Bangalore Express from December 9. The details will be notified shortly.
Creating history
It brought a ray of hope on November 23 as the Mangalore-Bangalore train arrived at Subramanya railway station making the day a historical one. The 18 coaches of Bangalore-Mangalore train reached Subramanya after 11 long years.
The train, which left Yeshwanthpur railway station at 7.45 pm on Thursday, reached Mysore at 11 pm and entered Subramanya at 7 am on Friday.
The train has eight general, two A/C and eight sleeper coaches.
About 20 railway officers had come in the train.
