A three-day State-level men’s kabaddi and volleyball tournament will be organised under the aegis of Madari Yuvaka Sangha at Government Model Primary School on December 6, as part of the Banashankariamma’s annual jatha to be held in Hebbale village of north Kodagu region on December 9, informed Taluk Panchayat member and Association president H R Srinivas.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that a district-level throwball tournament has been arranged for women. For the first three winners of the State-level kabaddi and volleyball tournament, will be presented cash prizes to the tune of Rs 10,001, Rs 7,001 and Rs 4,001 respectively. For the first three winners of the district-level throwball tournament, Rs 3,001, Rs 1,501 and Rs 751 respectively will be presented along with the annual trophy.
As per tradition, on December 10, the rural sport of bullockcart race will be organised. The bullockcart owners who win the first two places will be presented 8 gm gold and 4 gm gold, respectively.
On the occasion, the competition of riding a vehicle after tying tyres and other rural sports for the public will also be organised, informed Association secretary H D Ganesh.
