Kodagu set for Huttari festival

The Kodava and Gowda Samajas have made necessary preparations for the ‘Huttari’ festival to be held on November 25, sources said.

On the occasion of Huttari festival, the Kodava Samaja members will cut tender paddy from the paddy field in the premises of the Samaja building. Water will be blocked in the fields at 7.15 pm while tender paddy will be cut at 8.15 pm, informed Kodava Samaja President Jolanda A Muddappa.  

The Gowda Samaja will also celebrate the ‘Huttari’ festival in association with Gowda Yuvaka Sangha, Gowda Mahila Okkuta and Gowda Self-Help Group.

A procession will be taken out from the Gowda Samaja premises at 7 pm and proceed through the city to reach the Ganapathi Temple to offer pooja.

Later, tender paddy will be cut from the field of Baimana Vishwanath and will be distributed.

The procession will then return to the Gowda Samaja. Samaja Secretary Sudana Punacha has requested the public to be present at the Samaja premises at 6 pm.
