JD(S) member of Tumkur Zilla Panchayat K C Krishnamurthy has alleged that the ruling Congress party in the ZP has misused the funds released by the state government for various development works in Gubbi town.
The government has released Rs 40 crore to the ZP under SJYR Scheme for the development of the district.
Though the funds have already been disbursed to the respective ZP members, works have not been undertaken, he said.
All for power
Criticising severely the delay in undertaking the development projects, Mr Murthy alleged that the ruling Congress is following a duel policy in implementing the works.
“Several ZP members belonging to Congress are power-hungry. They are interested only in making money. They are working only for their own benefit and not for the benefit of the people.’” he said.
While many of the projects have not yet started, some of those started have come to a stand-still due to shortage of funds. Mr Murthy also alleged that there have been many irregularities in the formation of the Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee.
He expressed his dissatisfaction against the ZP President for the delay in utilising funds and implementing the projects.
