He was transferred to the KUWSSB in 1975 as AEE. In January 2004, he was promoted to the chief engineer’s post.
On appeal
In January 2004, he retired but was re-appointed on February 1, 2004 as managing director of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board, on contract basis. He was removed in May 2006 by a High Court order.
He went on appeal against the court order in the Supreme Court and was subsequently reinstated on October 5, 2007.
Employees of the Karnataka Water Board had observed a ‘Demand Week’ from May 24 this year, urging the government not to appoint Mr Reddy until the allegations against him were probed.
Allegations
KUWSSB Employees Union leader V N Halakatti, who led the agitation, had demanded a high level departmental inquiry and charge-sheet against the KUWSSB MD.
“The board has been shielding Reddy so far. Attempts at investigating the allegations against him failed as he had continued to be in office,” Mr Halakatti had further alleged.
