Enraged at being woken up, a convict  beat up a Thane Central Jail guard leaving him with serious head injuries, police said on Saturday. Sachin Shinde (24), serving a three-year jail term for beating his grandmother, injured jail guard-Mohan Jadhav-when he woke him up on Friday, reports PTI.

Another guard, Vijay Bansode was also roughed up when he went to rescue his colleague, police said. Both of them were rushed to Thane hospital. However, Jadhav was referred to J J Hospital in Mumbai as he suffered serious injuries.
