The recent events unfolding in the affairs of the University of Mysore are shocking to the academicians in particular and citizens in general. It is disgraceful on the part of the captains of the university to bring disrepute to the institution that nurtured them and elevated them to the highest position.
In spite of high academic qualifications and exposed to best of academicians worldwide, it is indeed astonishing to note that they succumb to pressures in the name of caste/creed and go to any extent to promote their personal agenda, while in public and academic meetings they proclaim they do posses any such agenda.
Unless the guilty are brought to book and action initiated in all earnestness against all involved in the various scandals, such deeds are bound to continue in future. The selection committee constituted to select the future Vice-chancellor for the University of Mysore should bear in mind the recent happenings at the university before selecting the next incumbent. One solution lies in avoiding local aspirants, many of whom are ready with a hit-list of their own and await an opportunity.
Another solution is to depute officers of the likes of Mr. Ibrahim, without whom many of the misdeeds would never have come to light.
Academicians and concerned citizens of Mysore await the findings of the committee probing the irregularities and fervently hope the culprits are not let off scot-free.
