“Sreesanth and RP Singh have been ruled out of the second Test, and a decision about their further participation in the series will be taken later," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah said.
Sreesanth picked up a shoulder injury in the Jaipur one-dayer, while RP Singh suffered an abdominal strain before the first Test. Sreesanth had consulted Board doctor Anant Joshi a couple of days back, and the latter had told the paceman to undergo surgery.
Such a step might jeopardise his Australian tour, and Sreesanth has been trying to avoid the surgeon's knife. The paceman is said to be keen on utilising the services of an ayurvedic expert in Coimbatore.
It also means Munaf Patel, who was drafted into the side for the first Test and pushed into the playing eleven, is likely remain with the team. Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma too might join the squad for the second Test.
