We will look to play positively, says Harbhajan
DH News Service, New Delhi:
Despite allowing Pakistan a chance to stay alive in the first Test, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said India still have a good chance to win the match. But he admitted that dropping Misbah-ul-Haq's catch was a mistake.

"We still have a good chance. We should not be too worried and just look to play positive cricket. If we do that, I think we have a very good chance of winning this match. The wicket is playing much better now.

“As you might have seen during their opening partnership, we were wondering whether it was the same wicket on which we had played for two days. We are very happy to get five wickets in the last session."

"But had we taken Misbah's catch, maybe we could have got them all out. Yes, it was a very crucial catch. But it is no use pondering over it. Instead, we must move forward and focus on the fourth day's play," he added.

Ready for chase

Harbhajan said the team was prepared to chase any target. "We are ready to chase any target because of the kind of ability and quality we have. I don't think the wicket will change much in the next two days.

“Yesterday, some balls were keeping low, but today it was coming on to the bat nicely. Hopefully, it remains the same as it was today."

The Punjab player said Anil Kumble had bowled extremely well in the last session. "Kumble bowled well and once again brought us back into the match with those two crucial wickets. When I bowled from that end, it was my first long spell in the match and luckily I got a wicket with my first delivery. When you take a wicket off the very first delivery, it gives you confidence and you bowl positively."

Bowling in pairs

Harbhajan had to wait a long while to get his second spell, but he did not read too much into it. "I can only come to bowl if I am asked to do so by the captain. We always try to bowl well in partnerships, so sometimes you need to work out which combination works well. Whatever Kumble has done, he has got it right. And yes, which bowler would not like to bowl a long spell?"

The Indian pacers had failed to make an impression, but Harbhajan said the pitch was not conducive for pace bowling. "Our pacers have done well on this wicket because if you see, there is no life in it. There is not much spin too. Considering all that, I think our bowlers have done a good job."
