Bara stars in MEG win
An eight-goal blitz from Uday Bara ensured a 12-1 victory for Madras Engineer Group over Rangers in the State ‘B’ Division hockey league at the KSHA stadium on Saturday. Bara scored in the 1st, 10th, 12th, 16th, 33rd, 38th, 45th, 53rd minutes of the contest.
The other goals for the winning side were scored by Sanjay (3rd), Bhavanth (18th), Rakesh Roshan (41st) and Chamaraj (51st).
For Rangers, Ramu scored their lone goal in the 26th minutes.
Other results: Bombers 2 (Anthony Rakesh 19th, Amit 44th) drew with MDHA 2 (Chouhan 32nd, Srinivas Reddy 40th); Om Sai (Dharwad) 2 (Preetam Rege 8th, Gadgayya 25th) bt Primrose 1 (Madan 42nd).
Inter-school chess meet

Bhatkal named State captain
Raju R Bhatkal has been named captain of the Karnataka team for the Col C K Naidu Trophy under-22 all-India knockout tournament to be played at Visakhapatanam from November 30 to December 21.

Al-Ameen, SJASC in title clash
Al-Ameen College and St Joseph’s Arts and Science College will clash in the final of the Dr Isaac Abraham memorial inter-collegiate hockey tournament on Sunday.
In the semifinals on Saturday, Al-Ameen defeated St Joseph’s Commerce College 4-1. For them, Ramesh scored in the 7th, 20th and 30th minutes, while Somanna was on target in the 36th minute.
Joseph scored for SJCC in the 51st minute.
In the second semifinal, SJASC got the better of St Joseph’s Pre-University College by a 4-1 verdict. For the winning side, Pradeep M (18th, 26th), Nithin Thimmaiah (21st) and Aiyappa (48th) were on target. For SJPUC, Shankar Patil netted in the 46th minute.
