Anand enters last eight

Anand Pawar defeated French number one Erwin Kehlhoffner 21-13, 21-19 to move into the quarterfinals of the Scottish Open badminton championships in Glasgow.

Anand, who had upset rising Danish star Jan O Jorgensen 21-14, 23-21 in the first round, will play Canadian Andrea Dabaka in the quarterfinals.

A trainee of the Tata Padukone Badminton Academy, Pawar has been based in Aarhus, Denmark for the past two months, training under Danish great Morten Frost.

In women’s singles, Aditi Mutatkar defeated Jill Pittard of England 22-20, 21-11 before losing to Japan’s Kanako Yonekura 16-21,18-21 in the pre-quarterfinals.
