“We took her out for a brief period on the wheel chair for a small round of the corridor. It was a new experience for the two-year-old. She was very cheerful,” said Dr Sharan Shivraj Patil, chief orthopaedic surgeon and chairman, Sparsh Hospital. Lakshmi’s wounds, said the surgeon, are healing well.
“If all goes well, we may take off her plaster early next week and put her on physiotherapy,” he added. Lakshmi is being carried by her parents and nurses and is progressing well. Born as a conjoined twin, she underwent a corrective surgery at Sparsh Hospital for 27 hours non-stop on Nov 6 and 7.
