Inter-state criminal gang in police net
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The Bangalore police busted an inter-state gang, which duped several women in and around the City by posing themselves as police officers.

According to the police, Parvez Ali alias Raza Parvez (44), Fairoz Ali (30), and Anwar Ali (46), all residents of Husaini Colony in Bidar town, were nabbed on November 11 when they were roaming in a suspicious manner at Raja Market.

The gang was operating across the country and had duped several people in cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Vishakhapattanam.

Police said, the gang members would target households on the outskirts of the city and con the women members by posing as policemen.

They would ask the woman to accompany them on the pretext that her husband had died in an accident. The unsuspecting woman would follow them. Enroute, they would ask the victim to take out her ornaments and tie it up in a cloth for safety.  They would then offer to keep the jewellery bundle with them.

The next step was to make the victim withdraw money from bank towards hospital expenses and transport the body home.

The last scene in the drama was to make the woman believe that some of the currency notes drawn from the bank were fake. The conmen would have replaced genuine notes with fake ones.

The police recovered ornaments worth Rs 5.5 lakhs from them and a cash of Rs 25,000. In all, the gang had committed 14 offenses in Bangalore.
