Abhishek came up with a match-winning 28 points as Koramangala Sports Club scored an easy 49-36 win over NAL Colony in the State 'A' Division men's basketball league for the Prof N C Parappa Memorial Trophy at the Beagles courts here on Friday.
Abhishek's heroics helped his team secure three vital points. He was simply unstoppable on the day as he came up with some fine under the board baskets. Karan and Sanjeev gave him good support to help Koramangala to a seven-point lead - 27-20 - at the end of the second quarter.
Koramangala hoopsters took things a bit easy in the third quarter and allowed their rivals to come within striking distance. Siddharth (12) and Hemanth (10) were the main scorers during that period for NAL.
However, Abhishek averted the danger NAL posed in the final quarter, scoring six points on the trot. Thereafter, it was smooth sailing for Koramangala.
In a rain-affected encounter, Madras Engineer Group and Centre (MEG) powered past a strong Sports Hostel challenge to emerge 65-52 victors. It was Sappers' fifth straight victory and the first defeat for the Hostelites.
For Sappers, Manoj (22 points) and Manikandan Jr (10) did the bulk of the scoring, while Rabbani and Varun basketted 14 points each for Sports Hostel.
