Kannada stops at govt documents
Pavagada, DHNS: Though Kannada is the state language it has attained the place of second language. Kannada language is existing only in the official documents of the state, said Prasanna Kumar, secretary, S M B R school on Tuesday
Speaking after the flag hoisting ceremony organised on the 52 Kannada Rajyotsava celebration here, he said that people in the border taluk of Pavagada continue to speak in Telugu.
He said that people in Pavagada should speak in Kannada and should develop love for the Kannada language.
Principal Venkatramadas opined that one should always remember litterateurs who fought for the reunification and should fulfill the objectives of the reunification.
Rajyostava celebrations
Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at the Town Municipal office. Administrative officer Ewarappa hoisted the flag at the celebrations.
Chief officer Maruti Prasad, former president G S Dharmapal, Sogadu Venkatesh, Manam Venkatswamy, Guruppa and other elected members of the municipal were present on the occasion.
Exibition of antiques
Tumkur University vice chancellor O Anantramaiah will inaugurate a month long exhibition of antique items and collection of documents related to freedom struggle in Karnataka on Saturday at Government first grade college premesis. The campaign has been organised by the Government first grade college on the eve of 52 Kannada Rajyostava.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Porf T H Eranna joint director of the college, Y A Narayanaswamy Vidhana Parishat member will give away the prizes, H S Manjunath judge J M F C court Pavagada will be the chief guest.
Poor turnout for Rajyostava
Kannada Rajyotsava celebration received a low response not only from the people but also from the officials. The celebrations which were arranged at the ground witnessed low turn out of the students as well as teachers. The people who were present could be numbered and in the absence of the crowd the cultural programmes arranged on the eve turned out be futile. Some of the pro Kannada activists have r have expressed a hope that next time it is celebrated with dedication.
