India Files Series Of Amendments
United Nations, Nov. 2.
India filed with the Political Committee a series of amendments aimed at combining Western, India and Soviet disarmament proposals which are up before the Committee.
The amendments would talk on to the Western “package” resolution an Indian proposal for tripartite committees comprising Eastern, Western and neutral nations and a Soviet plan calling for nuclear nations to forswear use of nuclear weapons.
Housing Boards Recommended

Mysore, Nov. 2.
The three-day conference of Housing Ministers which concluded here this evening, recommended the setting up of Housing Corporations or Housing Boards in all States in order to channelise into housing, fund-drawn from private sector, as well as banks, investment companies and financial institutions.

Opposition To Fight Bill On Prez Rule

New Delhi, Nov. 2.
Opposition parties are totally opposed to any Constitutional amendment that will enable the Centre to extend President’s rule in Assam any further. Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, is reported to have been told that any government attempt to extend the time limit for President’s rule in any State would be fought tooth and nail.
