German Cuisine varies greatly from region to region, but there are many things in common. The deserts included traditional Black Forest Cake and Apple Strudel.
The German lentin soup, Linsensuppe, is almost like the Indian daal saar, while Kartoffelsuppe or potato soup is a thick variation. There is a wide variety of typical healthy salads including Rotkohl (red cabbage and apple salad), Gurkensalat (cucumber salad with sour cream dressing), Karottesalat (carrot salad), German potato and dill salad and the all time popular Sauerkraut, made by a process of pickling and Wurstsalad (sausage salad).
For the main course stuffed tenderloin rolls with bacon (Rouladen), German lamb patties (Frikadellen), half roast chicken (half hendel). There is a variety in vegetarian dishes too like potato pancakes (Kartoffelpfannkuchen), Spaetzle cheese noodles (Kasespatzle), Mushrooms in cream sauce (Pilze in sahnesosse), Vegetarian strudel and crusty chayote casserole. There a wide variety of sausages which can be treated as starters or main course.
For accompaniment there are a wide variety of traditional hard and soft German breads like ciabata, baguettes, bread rolls, maple oatmeal bread and soft pretzels.
Desserts include the popular Black forest cake, Autumn apple pie, peanut butter cup brownie and the exotic water melon pudding which Chef Aditya explains is done by reducing the water melon juice by heating it.
