Irked Boycott calls for ban
Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott has called for a ban on syndicated newspaper columns written by current cricketers as the write-ups give them a chance to “spill the beans on what goes on in the dressing room”.
Boycott said there should be a strict policy on the matter as they earn enough and do not need to write such columns for dailies.
Shreyas, Suchith put State on top
Suchith Jagadish’s haul of six for 53 and Shreyas Gopal’s 116 helped Karnataka gain a vital 64-run first innings lead against Andhra on the second day of their three-day match in the Polly Umrigar South Zone (U-15) tourney in Thiruvanathapuram, reports DHNS.

John Woorduff passes away
John Woodruff, the last surviving member of 12 US men who won athletics gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in defiance of Adolf Hitler’s ideas on Aryan racial supremacy, died at age 92 on Tuesday, the New York Times reported, AFP reports from New York.
Woodruff won gold in the 800 metres at Berlin in the last Olympics before World War II.
Pollock included in Test squad
South Africa's leading wicket-taker Shaun Pollock has been recalled for the first Test against New Zealand starting in Johannesburg next Thursday, reports Reuters from Johannesburg.

The Cricket Board is thinking of barring selection panel chief Dilip Vengsarkar from penning a syndicated newspaper column and a firm decision on the matter is expected when the Board’s office bearers meet on November 11, reports PTI from Mumbai.
Barcelona slip further
