S Badrinath-led Tamil Nadu will take on Maharashtra in a Ranji Trophy Group ‘A’ Super League tie at the MA Chidambaram stadium here from Saturday. The match, though, will at the mercy of weather.
Tamil Nadu, who narrowly managed to remain in the Super League (formerly Elite Division), will be looking forward to a better season as coach WV Raman guides his young side for the second year. The southern side will also be bolstered by the presence of in-form India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Kaarthick.
Rivals Maharashtra will be led by former Andhra skipper Y Venugopala Rao, who has switched his loyalties this season. The side is coached by former India stumper Chandrakant Pandit, who tasted huge success as India ‘A’ coach on the tours of Kenya and Zimbabwe.
Other Super League ties Group A: Himachal Pradesh vs Saurashtra (Dharamsala). Group B: Orissa v UP (Cuttack); Punjab vs Andhra (Amritsar).
