Seeking to step up pressure on the Governor and the UPA government at the Centre, the BJP-JD(S) combine is even considering to march its 129 legislators to New Delhi and parade them before President Pratibha Patil.
However, a final decision in this regard will be taken in a day or two.
The dharna will be launched at 10:30 am on Saturday and will continue round the clock with the legislators participating in the agitation on a rotational basis.
Why delay: BJP
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, State BJP President D V Sadananda Gowda took strong objection to the Governor not sending his final report to the Centre even seven days after the combine staked claim to form the government.
“When President’s Rule can be imposed in a matter of hours, why is it taking so long to revoke the same? We have even submitted individual affidavits signed by the legislators to prove that we have the numbers,” Mr Gowda said.
“If the Governor needed any clarification he could have sought it from us,” he added.
He alleged that Congress leaders were putting pressure on the Governor to recommend the dissolution of the Assembly. Another issue that has irked the BJP is the Union Cabinet not deliberating the political crisis in the State on Friday.
“The delaying tactics in taking up the Karnataka issue has given rise to grave suspicion and has exposed the hidden agenda of the Congress,” he charged.
On the 12-point guideline on government formation sent to BJP national President Rajnath Singh by JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, he said the matter would be dealt with by Singh.
He denied his party was power hungry and said it was the BJP’s right to establish a coalition government in the State after getting support from the JD(S).
Yeddyurappa mum
Meanwhile, the BJP-JD(S) combine’s chief ministerial candidate, B S Yeddyurappa, has once again gone into the “silent mode”.
Facing one roadblock after another in realising his dream of being chief minister, the latest being Gowda’s 12 conditions to the saffron party which includes a major say for his son in decision making process, Yeddyurappa said he will not comment on any political development till the Governor invites him to form the government.
