Indicating “negative thrust” which has been rendered by the Mr Gowda’s memorandum of understanding (MoU) to the prospects of the government formation in Karnataka, sources close to the BJP high command described the letter “at the best an after thought”.
They said the letter given to the BJP and submitted to the Governor on October 27 carried no such conditions as attached by Mr Gowda now which “ has surprised us”.
They maintained that while the Governor and the Centre was taking their own time in deciding the issue, Mr Gowda has enough time to “play his game.”
Meanwhile, the BJP high command is rushing senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu to Bangalore to handle the 12-point missive of JD (S) President H D Deve Gowda which has again put brakes on the attempt at government formation in the State.
More discussion
According to sources, Mr Naidu would be reaching Bangalore on Saturday and will have consultations with the State leadership before reaching out to Mr Gowda on his conditions.
Earlier quizzed about the conditions attached by the JD (S) leader, BJP President Rajnath Singh told Deccan Herald over the phone that the understanding reached 20 months ago between the BJP and the JD(S) “should still be the basis of government formation in the State”.
He has not responded to the demands.
A formal response from the BJP is expected on Saturday.
