A meeting of ashtamathadheeshas held here on Friday has resolved that though Puttige Mutt seer Sugunendrateertha Swamiji cannot worship Sri Krishna during his paryaya, he can be given the responsibility of the administration of the Krishna Mutt. The pontiff’s saagarollanghana (crossing the sea) has ‘disqualified’ him from performing the paryaya.
Paryaya Krishnapura Swamiji, Pejawar Swamiji, Palimaru Swamiji, Kaniyuru Swamiji and Sode Swamiji participated in Friday’s meeting. The absence of Admar, Shiruru and Puttige seers at the Friday meeting has created confusion. Therefore, it has been decided to hold another meeting on November 28 and take an unanimous decision. Earlier, the senior pontiff of Admar Mutt too had faced opposition against getting paryaya charge for similar reasons. Hence, Vibhudeshateertha Swamiji had assigned his power to his junior.
Opposition
However, some leaders of the Puttige Paryaya Reception Committee have expressed their opposition to the Friday decision.
