Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelana-2007 will be held at Kuwait on November 30 and December 1 under the aegis of Kuwait Kannada Koota. Poet laureate Dr G S Shivarudrappa will preside over the event.

Speaking at a news conference in the city on Tuesday, President of cultural committee of the event K P Manjunatha Sagar informed that persons who have served Kannada language and culture will be conferred with Globalman award-2007 in the sammelana. Social activists M Krishnamurthy of America, Kamaleshwari Ramesh and Umarani of Bangalore, Sarvothama Shetty of Abudhabi, Rajkumar of Bahrain, artists D Keshava of Switzerland, Bhuvaneshwari Nagaraj of Qatar, journalist B V Nagaraj from Canada, technician S S Alur from Qatar, academician Sadananda Shetty from Mangalore, R P Ravishankar from Bangalore who is serving in cooperative movement and banking entrepreneur Narendra Rai will be conferred with Globalman award this year, he informed.

Speaking on the occasion, Honourary President of the committee Dr K A Ashok Pai said that Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelana provides a platform for Kannada diaspora to come together.

The event has proved success in highlighting the Kannada art and culture abroad, he remarked. Udayashankara Shastry of Karnataka Sangha was present in the news conference.
