Life in the fast lane
Sampurn
Pooja Batra is crazy about cars.

Few people know about Pooja Batra’s fascination for cars. She already has a Lexus Hybrid SUV and a BMW M3 Convertible. Her doting husband decided to surprise her with yet another car on her birthday. This one is a BMW M5, and her collection is now more varied.

“I love this one. It can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds!” Pooja gushes. She loves its mean looks and growl, and features like the airbags and the bluetooth connectivity. “I am so looking forward to going back and revving up the engine,” she adds, grinning. Some girls have all the luck!

Kher’s Talent Company going places

A Mighty Heart has been in the news quite a lot recently. What you may not know is that this docudrama is also Anupam Kher’s Talent Company’s first major Hollywood assignment.

It was the UK casting director, Wendy Brazington, also the casting head for the film, who was responsible for the contract. Apparently, she was so impressed with the agency’s contacts in the talent-spotting business that she also agreed to formally launch it in May last year.

The Talent Company has come a long way since then. It has bagged several prestigious assignments, including BBC Radio’s production of The Adventures of Feluda, and The Darjeeling Ltd starring Owen Wilson, plus a host of Bollywood films and commercials.

Kailash aspires for a career in acting

Few can resist the temptation to come on the big screen. The latest to fall prey to this desire is singer Kailash Kher who rose to fame with hits like Allah ke bande from Waisa Bhi Hota Hai II, O Sikander from Corporate and Teri deewani from his private album Kailasa.

In fact, the singer says getting filmmakers is not a hurdle at all. What he is waiting for is an exciting and unique role. But pray, why this bend towards acting? Kailash says he just wants to “entertain” people. But that he already does, and he is quite successful at that.

The singer had struggled quite a lot in his initial days in Mumbai. The day he reached the city of his dreams, he didn’t even have a place to stay and spent a night at Andheri station. It was sheer hard work and talent that earned him the title of ‘Little Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’.

The singer has already sung for about 25 forthcoming films, including Madhuri Dixit’s comeback movie Aaja Nachle. In a bid to get into acting, hope the singer doesn’t sideline his musical career when the going is so good.
