RP ready to strike hard again
Kolkata, uni:
Nippy left-arm pacer Rudra Pratap Singh on Saturday said he would be only too happy to repeat his last years performance in Pakistan.

Singh, who addressed a press conference along with team manager Lalchand Rajput here, expressed his satisfaction over the team’s overall performance over the last couple of months.

‘’We have played well over the last few months. We won the Twenty20 World Cup and I am satisfied with the performance I have put up. I just try to do my basics right and bowl a particular line and length.’’
Speaking about his wonderful Pakistan Tour last year he said: ‘’I didn’t try anything fancy there. Every simple thing I tried there luckily worked for me. I would only be too happy to repeat my performance.’’
Singh, who made his debut against Pakistan in Faisalabad last year, won a man of the match award for his performance on debut. Thereafter, he slowly faded away from the side before coming back strongly this year.
‘’The comments and criticism do not bother me. I work hard and try to keep myself focussed. I am not sure what Shoiab Malik has said about me,’’ he added.
‘’I have played a lot of cricket over the last few months. I have played county, Ranji Trophy and also international matches. All that has helped build my confidence.’’
Singh was under contract with Leicestershire county last season.
Speaking about the Pakistan side, he said: ‘’They have got a world class line-up, but even among them if you want me to pick somebody, I will mention Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan. They are very consistent.’’
On any gameplan to peg them: ‘’We have worked on certain variations and plans. We have talked about their strengths and weaknesses and are going to have further sessions about it. I will keep all that advice in mind and try to work accordingly.’’
Sehwag’s position
Admitting that there was no questioning Virender Sehwag’s class as a cricketer, Lalchand Rajput said his position in the side was not clear as yet.
Rajput said, ‘’Viru (Virender Sehwag) is undoubtedly a great player. He is an asset to the team. But we have not given a thought about his position in the side.
‘’We will have a team meeting here this afternoon and then in Guwahati also. We will take it from there,’’ he said.
Talking about the Australia series, Rajput said, ‘’Against Australia we played really well in the last two matches in Mumbai. The way we recovered and won the last one-dayer gave us a lot of momentum. We just need to carry that mometum forward.’’
But he added that the Indo-Pakistan series was much bigger than anything else.  ‘’Matches between the two sides are always very tight and close,” he said.
