BJPs non-stop dharna begins
DH News Service,Bangalore:
State BJPs three day non-stop dharna intended to exert pressure on the Governor, the Union government and the President to revoke the Presidents rule was kicked off near Mahatma Gandhi statue in Bangalore on Saturday.

The BJP party cadres have put up a camp on the pedestrian path in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue, with several beds spread out on the platform to enable the party leaders to sit and sleep in comfort.

Though BJP had roped in majority of its MLAs for the dharna, the JD(S) offered its symbolic support with its party State President Merajuddin Patel being the only prominent leader attending it. Mr Patel was present only for about half-an-hour.

While launching the dharna in the morning, BJP National Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu alleged that the Congress leaders are putting pressure on the Governor to not take positive step for installing the BJP-led coalition government. This is despite the fact that the alliance has proved its strength before the Governor.
Mr Merajuddin Patel said that his party would extend all cooperation to BJP in its effort to put an early end to the President’s rule.

Mr Yediyurappa did not speak as he is observing “mauna vratha”. Several BJP legislators, party workers observed dharna by rotation. The party has made arrangement to serve food  to the leaders on dharna round-the-clock.
Despite a light shower, which spoiled the beds spread on the platform the leaders continued with their agitation.
