The enchanting of ‘Krishna Nee Begane Baro...’ song by the famous ghazal maestro Hariharan echoed throughout the temple town of Hampi until midnight at the cultural programme on the inaugural day of the three-day Hampi Utsav on Saturday. Even though it was late in the night, the impact of Hariharan’s presentation was so great that there was no sign of chairs getting empty. The audience seemed to have forgotten the time as they were taken away by the songs of Hariharan.
The word ’marvellous’ was exclaimed by the music lovers at the event. The magical voice of this Mumbai-based artiste has mesmerised crores of audience across the country and also abroad.
This musical programme of Hariharan was the favourite of all the cultural events at the mega Utsav. Songs of Hariharan gave a warming touch to the audience amidst the biting cold at the heritage site.
Being a multi-lingual singer, Hariharan sang some of the songs in Kannada also. One among them was ‘Yaarittaree Chukki...Yaakittaree Chukki’ from the Kannada movie ‘Preetse’. With the song, he invaded into the hearts of the audience.
Attired in a black kurta and his rendition along with the co-artistes, he recalled the music programmes held during the erstwhile Vijayanagar Empire established by Hakka and Bukka.
The ghazals presented by Hariharan added colour to the programme. Though there was demand for more Kannada songs, the Hindi tunes were not overlooked. In toto, Hariharan’s musical evening was a memorable event on the first day of the Utsav.
