It was an evening of music, dance and folk art at Hampi on Saturday. Definitely a treat for music and dance lovers. The Virupaksha temple premises was packed with art lovers.
The evening started with a programme by flautist Chirantan of Hagaribommanahalli. Later, dancer Padmini Ramachandran and group of Bangalore presented a dance ballet. The artistes danced to the tune of ‘Dayamado Ranga...’ Dasarapada with devotion in the behest of Lord Virupaksha.
On the other side, Rameendar Khurana of New Delhi impressed the audience with his Odissi dance. The mandolin recital by artiste Sugato Badhuri of Kolkata was a retreat to the music lovers. The vocal recital by Veeresh and Shankar Hugar of Bellary, and rendition of Hindustani music by Pandit Naganath Odeyar of Dharwad enthralled the audience.
People had to wait for the programme of noted artiste from Mumbai Ms Geeta Javadekar due to the delay in her reaching Hampi on time.
The Krishnadevaraya Vedike was packed with artistes of national and international repute.
Well-known Hindustani singer Madhav Gudi echoed all over Hampi. The Hindustani vocal recital by Kaushik Chatterjee of Kolkata and ghazal tunes by Hariharan of Mumbai attracted the audience.
The cultural programmes continued throughout the night. The Geeta Vihar team from Kasargod performed Dasa Sankirtane.
