Former home minister M P Prakash said on Sunday that there was a need to chalk out a comprehensive plan for recreating the world famous Hampi, so that all the historical aspects of the erstwhile Vijayanagara Empire could be described under one roof.
Speaking to mediapersons, he noted that a discussion was held with the authorities of the Hampi Kannada University earlier, which had not been materialised till now.
There was a need for collective approach from the departments concerned and philanthropists to channelise this great project.
He said that Hampi and its surrounding areas should be developed on the lines of progress of Jakarta in Indonesia, Detroit in USA and Thailand.
Lifestyle of past
As per the records, Hampi was located in 23 sq km. The project could bring back the lifestyle existed during the Vijayanagara Empire and houses and temples of that period.
Development works such as widening of Kaddirampur Road, improving the tonga services and many more plans were pending, he added.
