Karnataka Dance Academy President Dr Rajshekhar Mansur said that indigenous culture was taking a back seat in the backdrop of globalisation. He expressed anguish that this may lead to losing our culture.
Speaking after inaugurating the cultural programmes organised as part of the Hampi Utsav here on Saturday, he said that officers and people’s representatives should create awareness about the bad effects of globalisation.
He said that by organising such festivals at district-levels, the local artistes get a boost. However, he regretted that only a few districts organised such events. Such festivals should be organised in all districts, he added. Mansur said that efforts are being made to popularise the music and art of Karnataka in others States. Already programmes have been organised in Delhi, Bhopal, Pune, Mumbai and Goa, he added.
Academy Registrar Balavatarao Patil and others were present.
