Ahead of the series-opening one-dayer against India here on Monday, Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik said the recent setback against South Africa at home has not pegged them back, and the team was looking eagerly to play against India.
"We have lost the series against South Africa, but we have learnt a lot from that series. Now we are ready for the Indian challenge and the team is fully prepared for the series," Malik said.
The Pak skipper downplayed the talk of a battle between his team and India and he said the team is treating this series as any other. "We are treating this series just as any other one. There is no extra pressure on us. You have to play this as a cricket series, not anything else. Our focus should be on playing good cricket throughout the series," he said.
Pakistan have an array of spinners, who can exploit the Indian conditions. Malik said their presence could be a blessing for the team and the shorter boundaries should not pose them any problems.
"I don't think our spinners will struggle in these type of grounds. They have good experience playing in these kind of conditions, and international cricket is all about adjusting to all kind of conditions.
“India have also good spinners with them, and I can't see why our spin bowlers cannot do well in these pitches and conditions," he detailed.
The visitors had tried different opening combinations in the home series against South Africa and Malik said they have a settled combination for the India series.
