Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Janandolana - a mass convention of the party cadres - will be organised at Palace Grounds on Monday.
The party’s State in-charge and senior leader Prithviraj Chauhan will launch the Janandolana on Monday.
Thousands of party workers from across the State are expected to participate in the convention.
By and large sticking to the party’s non-committal stance on its own attempts to form a government in the State, Kharge also slammed the “unholy remarriage” of the JD(S) and the BJP, and said a fresh Assembly election was the only way out.
He said the people of the State had already had enough of coalition governments and an election was the only solution to ease the deadlock.
“The feeling among the general public as well as intellectuals is that the State should go in for election... the campaign will focus on the mis-governance in the State over the past 20 months and also expose the BJP’s craving for power,” Kharge said.
‘JD(S) unsure’
Pointing out one of the 12 conditions put forward by the JD(S) for support to the BJP - that sought an assurance of security for religious minorities - Kharge said the JD(S) itself was not sure whether religious minorities would be safe under a government headed by the BJP.
Kharge maintained that there was no real confusion with regard to the formation of the new government and alleged that the JD(S) and the BJP were only
creating an impression along those lines.
The party will also take the Janandolana to other districts of the State to expose the designs of the JD(S)-BJP coalition.
