Speaking to reporters at Palace Grounds, the venue of the party’s Monday campaign Janandolana, on Sunday, Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajashekaran dismissed the BJP’s charges that the Governor was being influenced by the Congress leaders.
“The Governor is here as a representative of the President of India and he shouldn’t be targeted through political allegations,” Rajashekaran said.
BJP under fire
Later, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the BJP for holding the Congress responsible for the delay in formation of the government.
“Why should they blame us for the delay? It was not the Congress that submitted a 12-condition formula for forming the government,” he said, in a reference to the conditions earlier put forth by the JD(S).
The KPCC president slammed the satyagraha that was taken up by BJP leaders near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on M G Road, saying that those who didn’t follow Gandhian ideals were now holding a satyagraha in front of his statue.
Kharge, all through the interaction, maintained that the BJP was the prime culprit behind the State’s political uncertainty.
However, he denied that the Congress was going “soft” on JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and his family.
