The reason for the fall of Vijaynagar Empire was nothing but thirst for power, fame and money, besides the betraying of friends and joining hands with the enemies, said former minister M P Prakash.
Mr Prakash was speaking after inaugurating the ‘13th seminar on Studies on Vijayanagar’ organised as part of Hampi Utsav near the Hampi Kamal Mahal on Sunday, his words reflected the present political situation in the State.
“The reason for the downfall of Mughal and European empires was also greed for power. Do we ever learn any lesson from history?” he asked.
Research studies by historians should not be subjective. It should have more objectivity and contemporary aspects and analysis, he stressed, adding that only then can there be a new approach to history.
A Sundar presided over the function. C S S Sharma presided over the seminar. Archeological Department Director Dr R Gopal, retired officer M V Shrinivas were also present at the programme.
