South Kanara District Chess Association (SKDCA) will organise a under-13 Boys and Girls State Chess Championship on behalf of United Karnataka Chess Association from November 16 to 18 at Karnataka Bank Employee’s Association auditorium Bejai Mangalore.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, Association President M S Gururaj said that any chess player born on or after 01-01-94 is eligible to participate in the event. About 150 players across the State are expected to participate in this tournament.
He said that generally top two boys and girls are selected to the nationals, but for the first time in the country, District Association is sponsoring 3rd, 4th and 5th Boys ad Girl Players for the nationals. So totally 10 players from the State will get free entry for the national championship to be held at Delhi from December 14 to 22.
The Association will also organise a State-level open rapid chess competition in Mangalore on December 1 and 2 and State-level classical chess tournament in January for five days.
All the interested chess players within the eligible age groups can confirm their participation before November 13.
