Forest department vigilance squad members on Sunday seized logs of ‘Balanji’ tree worth Rs 3 lakhs along with the lorry in which it was being smuggled at Eppalli junction near Shanivarasanthe.

The squad members successfully arrested lorry driver Manjunath, while the other person named Manju from Chandralli managed to escape. The lorry belongs to one Mr Papu from Shanivarasanthe. The ‘Balanji’ logs were hidden under the logs of silver tree, informed forest officer M B Monappa.
