Unsystematic maintenance of accounts unravelled

The unsystematic maintenance of accounts in Bhandigadi gram panchayat in the taluk was unravelled during the ‘jamabandi’ programme held in the GP on Monday.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Sundar Nayak expressed his disappointment towards not maintaining the details of assets, proper bylaws and necessary documents of various projects. GP President Venugopal presided over the event.

APMC Director H D Srinivas came down heavily on the officials for not taking any action against the concerned though the issue of spending Rs 47,000 for the construction of one bus shelter without inviting tenders had been risen during the previous jamabandi. There was also audit objection in this regard.

H K Suresh questioned the act of conducting the meeting of gram panchayat in closed doors. The CEO appealed the concerned to keep the GP meetings open and asked the Executive Officer to seize all the documents of the project that face4d audit objection and submit a chargesheet as per the regulations.

There were also complaints that water is not being supplied properly. In some places, the tap water is being diverted towards private plantations for irrigation, and the villagers are not getting sufficient drinking water, the public alleged.

GP Vice-President Jayanthi, TP President B S Sathish, members Santosh, Parvathi, ZP member S N Ramaswamy, EO Kantharaj were present in the jamabandi.
