Speaking at a press conference in Kolar, he said that the scheme would be implemented to all the districts in the state which are already implemented in 200 districts in the country.
In order to resolve the problems of the farmers during floods and drought situations, the Scheme will be implemented as per the direction given by Sonia Gandhi, Mr Muniyappa added.
The Scheme has been taken up in the third phase. As many as five district were selected at the first phase and six districts under the Vidarbha package in the second phase, though Kolar district should have been included then it was not done as the government left it owing to the existence of so many BEML and BGML companies, he added.
Specialities
Specialities of the scheme include construction of canals, check- dams, water shed development, forestry, desilting of lakes and others. The state government will release funds only after a report from the concerned officials regarding the estimated cost of the developmental works and the number of manual labourers, he said.
The scheme will be beneficial to as many as four lakh farmers in Chikkaballapur district who will have to sit idle and without earnings when there are no agricultural activities. While the State government too will spend 10 per cent for the scheme, both the governments will work jointly, he stated.
At the same time, Mr Muniyappa directed the concerned officials to take suitable measures to resolve drinking water crisis for the coming summer as there has been no appropriate rains even after the month of November this year.
As many as 30 crores have been released for the development of roads in various state highways, Malnadu and Karavali regions, he said.
Zilla Panchayat President A C Nagaratna, Vice-president R Venkatarama Reddy, former President V Venkatamuniyappa, District Congress Committee President N S Bisse Gowda, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K S Suryanarayana Rao and others were also present at the meet.
