For a while, it appeared Controllerate of Inspection Electronics (CIL) were yet to get over Sunday night's drubbing at the hands of defending champions Karnataka State Police. For, against former champions Postal, CIL looked totally ill at ease.
But the loss of the first set woke them up from the slumber and suddenly, they turned things around in inimitable fashion to force a 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 victory in the State 'A' Division volleyball league at the Lal Bahadur Shastri grounds here on Monday.
The architect of their victory was attacker Arun Kumar and centre-blocker Chandrashekar. It took Arun a while to get warmed up for the important clash. Once into his rhythm, there was no stopping the youngster. He made winners at will to push Postal onto the backfoot.
With Chandrashekar joining the party, making fine short-ball kills besides thwarting the opposition attackers at the net, there was no stopping CIL. Even Abhijeet, who did trouble them in the first set, found it difficult to get past the CIL blocks.
After the opening set debacle, CIL just ran through the next three sets with a minimum of fuss. It was CIL's sixth win in eight matches.
In a late night encounter on Sunday, champions KSP outclassed CIL in straight sets. Babu and Kanavi came up with a good display to have CIL in trouble right from the word go.
With Pruthviraj too making his presence felt, KSP were just too good on the day, closing out the match in a mere 47 minutes, 25-19, 25-14, 25-11.
