On learning that Shankarappa has reached Bellary by Hampi Express, Lokayukta sleuths went to his house and carried out search from 8 am to 1 pm. “We didn’t find anything. We tried to interrogate him, but he was not co-operating and hence we sought court permission to remand him to custody.
The court has remanded him to our custody till November 9,” said Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde.
He said according to intelligence reports, Shankarappa has properties in Bangalore, Bellary and Chitradurga.
“We’re sending a team from Bangalore to interrogate him,” said the Lokayukta.
Justice Hegde said he, along with the Upalokayukta and ADG Lokayukta Roop Kumar Dutta, have decision to seek court’s permission and arrest all those held under the Prevention of Corruption Act, who are not co-operating with the Lokayukta police in revealing information.
“We have also decided to write to the Governor or his advisors to keep all such officials under suspension till our investigation is over,” he added.
