JD(S) MLAs decision to participate in Delhi parade plan along with their colleagues in the saffron party has not gone down well with the party Supremo H D Deve Gowda.
Gowda, according to sources, has taken strong exception to his son-former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s decision to parade his MLAs along with the BJP’s, before the President.
When N Chaluvarayaswamy and other MLAs met Gowda at his residence in the morning to seek his advice on the Delhi visit, the JD(S) patriarch initially refused to even speak to them. When they persisted, Gowda has denied to give any advice to them, sources said.
Insiders said that Deve Gowda is very upset that his secular credentials at Delhi will be dented once his party MLAs march hand-in-hand with BJP legislators in Rastrapathi Bhavan.
Gowda, who was dead against re-forging alliance with the BJP, had also opposed any plans to ferry the party MLAs to Delhi, to pressurise the Centre to invite the BJP-JD(S) combine to form the Government.
Hence, he had, on Sunday, categorically ruled out Delhi parade plan and stated that JD(S) was too small a party to join with the BJP to parade before the President.
But Kumaraswamy, at the other end, played a different tune and agreed for the parade. This is not all.
Kumaraswamy suddenly announced “unconditional” support to the saffron party, while his father had a different plan altogether reign in on the BJP -- his 12 point conditions.
