KOLAR BRIEFS

RPI presses for election

Kolar, dhns: The activists of Republican Party of India (RPI) submitted a memorandum to the President and Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday stating not to transfer the power to a communist party like BJP, instead hold elections.

BJP has neglected the Dalits, Minorities and other backward Communities and has been making vain efforts to form the government, which may result in cases similar to what happened in Gujarat, such as genocides, the activists alleged.

The BJP has looted the money by arranging ‘Go Sammelan’, while the entire Shimoga was suffering from draught and the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar has been insulted soon after BJP allied with JDS for government formation.

Even the party was responsible for raising communal violence in Mangalore, they said. Republican Party of India activists also alleged BJP of harassing the minorities after they stated that Baba Budangiri would be made ‘Ayodhya’ and also the opposed the party’s stand in denying to provide eggs to school children.

M Muniswamy, M Anjinappa, M R Jagadeesh, V Meenakshi, M Muneefa and others led the protest.

‘Update the electoral roll’

Kolar, dhns: The electoral roll must be updated from November 1 before the bi-annual elections to the two Graduate constituencies which will go to polls in 2008, said DC and Election officer.

The members elected to the Legislative Counsil from the two Graduate Constituencies will complete their tenure on June 30,2008.

The calendar of events is as follows;

Last date for receiving applications in Form 18 is November 6. Draft electoral rolls should be ready by November 20. Publication of draft rolls should be done on November 23, for the objections could filed between November 23 and December 7.

The finalisation of objections and publish of the preparatory rolls is December 27. The last date for the finalisation of the list is December 27.

Since a new voter list is being prepared for the South East Graduate constituency of Karnataka. Voters are requested once again submit their application in Form 18 along with eligibility certificates and specimen signature,  even if their name existed in the earlier voters list. The applications must submitted to the concerned taluk tahasildar before November 7.
