NSS camp creates awareness

A 10 day N S S camp organised by the Sira’s  SKMM Ranganath PU college at the Chikkagoola village was successfully completed.

As a part of the camp students were involved in Shramadhan and programmes creating awareness among rural people about various social and health issues. Lectures were also delivered about the importance of service in rural areas.

As a part of Shramadhan students were involved in cleaning of drainage and repair of roads. They also cleared the weeds (Bellary Jalli)   which had grown on the sides of the roads in Huchchappa Katte new layout. There by making the movement of people easy and comfortable.

They also constructed platforms along the Bilva and Banni tree and cleaned the surrounding of the temple. As a part of the Vana Mahotsava students planted 200 saplings belonging to various species. The students also conducted a survey of illiterates in the village.

In order to create awareness among the people various awareness programmes were given in the evenings relating to the HIV and Aids, vaccination, animal health check up, TB and implementations of the Women and Child Welfare Department.

Gandhian

People were also told of the importance of Gandhian principals, importance of environmental protection, conservation of historical monuments and artefacts and art and literature.

Awareness was also created about the yoga and health. Along with these programmes students with the participation of the local people did drama which were meaningfull.

GP member Shoba Nagaraj presided over the valedictary function were students shared their experience and said that one should always be willing to serve the society.

Camp officer K Somashekharappa elaborated on the 10 day workshop. TP members Honnagondanahalli Chikkanna, S R Gowda, ex president Nagaraj, GP member Mallesh, district physical education teachers association’s president B Ramachandrappa and Siddagangappa spoke on the occasion.
